Negros Oriental, Philippines. For its community-based approaches to development, which include encouragement of the youth to fish and farm, improvement of agricultural service delivery, enhancement of health services, and involvement of the communities in the development process.

Camarines Norte, Philippines: Talisay Rivers for Environmental and Economic Sustainability. An initiative of the community of Talisay to harness the Talisay River, prevent soil erosion, and reduce flooding in neighboring communities. This activity is an example of community, local government, and national government partnership for good resource management.

Alaska: Kake Circle Peacemaking. For the efforts of the Tribe of Kake in establishing the Healing Heart Council and Circle Peacemaking; thus, preventing alcohol abuse among youth resulting in the prevention of adult alcoholism.

South Africa: Kgalagadi Household Sanitation Programme. For its participatory and community-based approach to promoting proper sanitation and hygiene in the Kgalagadi District Municipality.
