The training programs conducted by the Center fall into two broad categories: programs sponsored by the Department of Personnel and Training of the Government of India and various other Government Departments/Public Sector undertakings, etc., and the fee-based programs organized by the Center on its own.

The training activities consist of a nine-month Advanced Professional Program in Public Administration (APPA) and served short term courses for senior Government Executives, having the character of in-service training.

Research

Research has been one of the major activities of the Center. The research program has been gradually extended to newer fields such as Policy Analysis and Development, Family Planning, Rural Development, Social Services, Political Dimensions of the Role of Multinational Corporations in India, Judicial Policy Formulation in India, etc. More attention is paid to the problem solving and action oriented research. The Center's empirical studies on Organizational Behavior, Personnel Management, Financial Management, Management of Public Enterprises, Public Policy and Planning, Rural and Urban Administration, etc. have gained wide appreciation.
